I will be cycling 42 miles in my THIRD Annual Five Boro Bike Tour. Taking place on Sunday, May 1st, my bike tour will begin in lower Manhattan and continue to my destination on Staten Island.
As with my first two Five Boro Bike Tour, I am riding in support of an organization that has touched my life and the lives of many others, Yale-New Haven Transplant Center (YNHTC).
Over the past few years, the Yale-New Haven Transplant Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital has become the busiest and most clinically successful liver and kidney transplant program in New England, of which, my family has personally experienced.
Last February, my mother received a life-saving liver transplant at YNHTC. The reputation of excellence and commitment to compassionate patient care from their physicians, nurses and staff, is evident in the results. Those results, gave my family the precious gift of my mother’s life.
With places like YNHTC, each advancement they make, each transplant they perform, lives are saved.
This year, my efforts are focused on raising awareness and financial support for the Yale-New Haven Transplant Center.
Your donation, of any amount, offers patient’s like my mother, a second chance at life and better health.
Your donation also supports the life-saving vision and contributions to the important advancements in transplant medicine as well as helping to expand and increase services of the Transplantation Center to other patients and families.

Patient Care
To provide sensitive, high quality, cost effective health care services to all patients, regardless of ability to pay.
Teaching
To be the primary teaching hospital for the Yale University School of Medicine and offer training opportunities for nurses and allied health care professionals.
Research
To provide the setting for ongoing clinical research that helps bring medical advances from the laboratory to the patient's bedside.

Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is a 944-bed tertiary referral center which includes Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, the 201-bed Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and the 76-bed Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. The primary teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine (YSM), Yale-New Haven's medical staff is enhanced by 471 supervised house staff physicians (residents) who add around-the-clock coverage and sharp inquisitive minds to patient care.
Yale-New Haven regularly ranks among the best hospitals in the U.S. and is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Relying on the skills of approximately 2,200 university-based and community physicians practicing more than 100 medical specialties, Yale-New Haven, Smilow Cancer Hospital, the Children's Hospital and the Psychiatric Hospital provide services for more than 503,000 outpatient and emergency visits and 50,000 discharges each year. In addition, Yale-New Haven is the second largest employer in the area with more than 7,000 employees.
Yale-New Haven receives national and international referrals and, in conjunction with YSM and the Yale Cancer Center, is nationally recognized for its commitment to teaching and clinical research. The National Institutes of Health have recognized these facilities for the excellence of the Cancer Prevention Research Unit, Cancer Information Service Center, Comprehensive Cancer Service, Digestive Disease Research Center, Child Health Research Center, Children's and Adults' Clinical Research Centers and Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.

The mission of this volunteer-based coalition is dedication to the purpose of public education and awareness for all Connecticut residents concerning the lifesaving benefits of organ and tissue donation and increasing the number of transplanted organs and tissues, which give new life and new hope to people suffering from fatal illness or life threatening injury. The Coalition membership believes that working together with a common voice is the only way to reach their goal.
