My sister ... Read More Part of my ambition to run the marathon stemmed from my desire to give back to an organization which has provided years of support and guidance for my family. The Waltham Committee (WCI) is a private non-profit agency which provides homes and employment for adults with a range of developmental disabilities. My sister Shannon, who is profoundly deaf and developmentally delayed, is fortunate enough to be fully supported by the WCI. WCI has provided Shannon with the opportunity to live a fulfilling, independent lifestyle. At the core of WCI's mission, is the belief that all individuals with disabilities deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and to experience community life to its fullest. Shannon has flourished as a member of the Waltham Committee. She has formed close friendships with her roommates and continued a steady job. Unfortunately state and federal funds do not meet all the members of WCI’s unique requirements. Tax-deductible donations enable WCI to enhance existing services and provide new life opportunities, while creating new initiatives to respond to the changing goals of their Individuals and staff. In honor of the dedication and support that the Waltham Committee has provided for our family, I am honored to raise money for such an outstanding organization and hope you will support my cause!  Close
