New York African Chorus Ensemble Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) organization, founded by Joyce Adewumi. New York African Chorus Ensemble Inc was founded on the premise of contributing to the healing process by providing in-house performances at hospitals, nursing homes and places that care for people with physical or mental disablities. In addition, New York African Chorus Ensemble also concerned itself with proving low income families easy access to highly artistic music performances.
Joyce’s dream was that anyone resident in any hospital, nursing home, places of special care, or low income communities would not feel detached from the rest of the world, but would know and feel loved through the interactive musical offerings the ensemble provides. African music was chosen because it is not easily accessible to these underserved communities, and to give musicians additional performance skills and jobs.
The members of New York African Chorus Ensemble Inc.(NYACE) represent a rich breadth of racial and ethnic diversity. Our performers are Americans, Asians, Haitians, Latin Americans, Caribbean and Africans who evoke the African spirit in their performances. Our list of friends in hospitals and places of special care is steadily growing.
It is our goal to be able to increase our performances in our community and also provide toy musical instruments to the terminally ill children we perform to. Your gifts and donations will greatly help us in making a difference in someone's life.
