ROLDA is an international organization currently activating in Galati area (south-east of Romania), operating two private dog shelters, the only shelters existent for an estimated number of 20,000 homeless animals.

ROLDA proudly affiliates with Romanian League in Defense of Animals (501-c-3 US charity) and Romania Animal Aid UK and hopes that corporations, businesses or individuals will join forces in our rescue work while benefit of tax-deduction for their generous care toward Romanian homeless animals.

During the last year alone more than 1,100 street dogs were saved from an uncertain and miserable life. All were spayed/neutered and treated for worms, fleas and ticks.

First shelter that we built follows the British model (indoor/outdoor kennels with individual bed and bowls for water and food/each dog, enclosure for dogs playing and tiles on the kennels’ floor for easier disinfection and cleaning).

The second shelter is built with financial support offered exclusively by Arcelor Mittal Galati (steel corporation).We already finalized 100 kennels and plan to build a veterinary clinic , exclusively designed for the homeless animals and the local community interested to solve humanely and efficiently this problem.

The veterinary clinic will have a veterinary office, 2 surgery rooms, an isolation unit, laboratory, recovery kennels and a reception area. Estimated funds to be raised :375,000 USD.

In 2009 ROLDA will continue to help the community to spay/neuter animals with and without owners.
During 2008, we were able to sustain financially – thanks to private donations and grants 620 surgeries, preventing in this way the born of thousands homeless animals, convicted to suffer an unfair life.

In the past 5 years,the international volunteers program brought animal lovers around the World to ROLDA shelter cottage to meet our dogs and speak further about the animals tragic reality from Romania.
