The people who say they love you shouldn't be the people who hurt you the most.
On October 21, 2009, a study shown on the ABC News website revealed that 5 children die from child abuse everyday. That's the highest rate of child death due to abuse WORLDWIDE. So many children are too young to understand that they are being abused and those that do blame themselves for not being loved. It's reported by Briere, J., Eliot, D.M. that one on every three girls and one in every seven boys will be sexually abused during childhood. Three years ago, it was reported that 80 children take their own lives each year because they are unable to cope with the trauma of being abused.
To think that all the pain and suffering child abuse victims endure could have all been prevented in heartbreaking. Child abuse prevention can be achieved. Every child deserves to feel loved.

The mission of Prevent Child Abuse America is to "prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children" and includes all forms of abuse and neglect, whether physical, sexual, educational, or emotional.
In recognizing our mission, Prevent Child Abuse America will inform the public that the prevention of abuse and neglect decreases lifelong adverse medical and emotional consequences for children and promotes their well-being. It also reduces the costs of human services, delinquency and criminal justice services and the loss of work productivity.
We believe that our mission is best achieved by ensuring a child's right to achieve his or her full potential and to prevent abuse and neglect before it happens. We advocate for public policies that diminish or eliminate risk factors while promoting protective factors. We suggest a continuum of services, access to those services and adequate service capacity to meet the developmental needs of children and families.

The mission of Prevent Child Abuse California is to prevent the abuse and neglect of California’s children by building community resources, enhancing public awareness, developing and coordinating prevention programs, and facilitating advocacy activities.
Goals
Community Resources - Build a statewide network of individuals and agencies dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect in all its forms.
Public Awareness - Increase public awareness about child abuse and neglect through training and education, information dissemination, and statewide events.
Prevention Programs - Strengthen affiliated prevention organizations across the state by identifying and reinforcing best practices in organizational operations and by developing, implementing, and supporting innovative prevention programs using research-based models.
Advocacy Activities - Influence public policy, programs, and practices that strengthen families and protect children by regularly distributing information regarding child abuse prevention initiatives, activities, legislation, and campaigns.
