Description:
Although the men and women in our military know there are casualities of war, rarely do they think one of these casualities is their family. Life changes so drastically, the distance, the uncertainty of their place in the family, the relationship with their spouse and children. Read More

Operation Recognition is a non-profit, non-partisan group, founded to deliver a long-overdue Thank-you! to our military and women and their immediate families for their service and sacrifice on behalf of our nation. They risk their lives for our protection and well-being and we believe they deserve a meaningful gesture of appreciation: a week of R&R in Maine. We’re here to make it the best possible experience for these military service personnel and their families…who sacrifice so much. We give them a place to come, enjoy, relax and regroup, get reaquainted and heal as a family unit.
Our aim now is to grow the number of military families we can thank. Our vision is that Operation Recognition will reach out to thank thousands of military members and their families each year.
So far, the response to Operation Recognition has been overwhelming from both individuals and companies. But to achieve our vision, we need your support. Our first goal is to raise funds to acquire a Maine property that will accommodate multiple families on retreat. There, we will build facilities to expand the numbers of military families we can thank through Operation Recognition.
So, our vision is in three parts. First, an immediate and ongoing start-up of regular Operation Recognition "thank yous" to military families by providing a free week of R & R on the Maine Coast. Second, the growth in our capabilities to thank ever larger numbers of families. And finally, it is our aim to lead by example so that similar forms of recognition expand beyond the borders of Maine.
