Grew up in Chicago. I am a grandmother w/6 grandchildren. They call me the active granny. I call myself Marathon Mom since I finished my first marathon/half last year....... (2007).The past couple of years have been pretty rough for me. I am on medical leave from my very stressful job. I was a Supervising Children's Social Worker for LA County!!!!!!Need I say more. It has been a tough road, however this year is the year of new beginnings for me. I am taking control of my life. I retired May 28, 2008. January 2009, God blessed me with the opportunity to become Executive Director for New Impression Social Service Agency. It has been a rough however rewarding ride as I am finally in a position to impact the lives of others in a positive way.

I am blessed to have two terrific children now adults. My son is a career Navy Man. My daughter is following in my footsteps and is now a Supervising Children's Social Worker for LA County! I am so proud of them both! I raised them as a single parent after my divorce. To see them successful is the best accomplishment of my life! Additionally, I have decided to study for the Licensed Clinical Social Worker's Exam!!!!! So this year is truly one of new beginnings for me!!!!

Our agency is dedicated to providing affordable housing and supportive services to the homeless. We are a Faith Based Social Service Agency as it is our belief that our desire to serve others has been divinely inspired. Our other major concern is addressing the Health Care Disparities in the low income communities. Our agency is developing an advocacy agenda to address the correlation between the high rate of disease among the homelessess and the environmental issues (lack of affordable housing) that impacts of their overall health. One thing that I have learned that I am a natural born advocate which has served me well in the formation of this Non Profit.

I grew up in the inner city and therefore feel that my life goal is to give back to the underserved and often forgotten citizens of our society. I am also currently pursuing my day care license as affordable day care is also a much needed service. My plate is full however I believe that the more we give the more we receive!
