New Impression Inc, a Faith Based Social Service Agency, was founded in 2008, to address the serious shortage of safe, decent, affordable housing for low-income families. We are a registered 501(3)c) non profit corporation providing housing and comprehensive supportive services to homeless and at-risk families. Further, we are also health care advocates as well as we believe that people of color suffered increasing health issues due to their inability to secure affordable housing which contributes to stressors such as depression as well as other unhealthy addictions. To that end, we have partnered with the California Legislative Black Caucus, The City of Compton, and Compton High School to proclaim April 28, 2009 Diabetes Awareness Day for the City of Compton. Consequently we are in the planning stages of promoting the first Compton Annual Diabetes Walkathon to take place April 2010. We are actively looking for agencies to partner with us as well as fund this worthwhile and life changing events for the citizens of Los Angeles County.
Additionally, we have a 7 bed transitional house, The Sankofa House located in Watts which was acquired in 2009 and transformed into a facility offering shared living occupancy to the economically challenged. We currently offer comprehensive supportive services to the families residing in our facility. Our goal is to provide the families with financial assistance as the majority of the clients we serve initially do not have sufficient funds to pay the deposit and other program fees. Therefore we are actively seeking sponsorship from Corporations, Churches, and other Philanthropic entities.
In March we started a Foster Pet Referral Service, matching potential foster parents for pets of homeless children. To date we have made one match and actively looking for additional resources to expand our program. It is heartbreaking for a child to suffer the loss of his shelter, friends, and to lose their pet is overwhelming.

Mission Statement:
I was working for a well known non profit. I met a young lady with a small son. She was homeless. The only shelter we were able to find was the Union Rescue Mission. It broke my heart to send her there. She returned the next day and told me she was thankful however the shelter was so cold and that she was worried about her son's welfare. So we found another shelter, New Image. The gave her a motel voucher for one night. She returned to to report that the place was infested ...
