Habari Lory...We are always looking for people looking to make a difference and fundraise for our projects...no amount is to small. currently our main focus is: Oldeani Secondary School We are starting with the Construction of kitchen, bathrooms and books for all students. Background: Geyteghi Primary School outside of Karatu was taken over by American, India Howell and now has a exam pass rate of 96% What she has accomplished is amazing. However, once these students graduate from the equivalent of 7th grade there is nowhere to go and for 90% of them no sponsorship available. The good news is Oldeani secondary day school is in the area. The school currently has a devoted headmaster and 260 day students who walk hours to get to school. The classrooms are in good condition but the students are without books and the most basic supplies. The facilities are in horrible condition. When we visited the pit latrine style bathrooms were unable to be used and the kitchen consists of sheet metal and some stones. Imagine if the school was able to accommodate the students from Geyteghi who wanted to continue their education. To help make this a reality we will focus on this school during the next year. India is sending student teaches and will oversee the teaching and project on the ground. Once these projects are finished we will look towards the next steps which include Harvesting tanks /gutter systems, dorms, teacher house, teacher desks and a bus to help cut down the amazing distances kids have to walk, to attend school. An opportunity for these young people to continue their education will profoundly affect these children’s lives.
