Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men and Women (DAHMW) is an all volunteer national non profit that offers supportive services (toll free helpline, shelter, food, clothing, transportation costs etc) to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
DAHMW was started in 2000 by a handful of New England citizens who were concerned about what they felt was a gap in services left by the traditional domestic violence shelter programs. The traditional long standing domestic violence shelters programs specialize in services and public awareness on violence against women by men. Services for men in relationships with abusive women and other men were and still are in short supply although studies show that men are between 15% and 35% of all victims annually.
We work to fill that gap and bring more public awareness to this often ignored group of victims and survivors. Although we specialize in this area our services are available to both male and female victims in heterosexual and same sex relationships.
Our agency is unique in that we are privately funded - we receive no government or United Way dollars. Our programs and services are provided free of charge to our clients. Close
