- 73% of the battered women seeking emergency medical services have already separated from the abuser.
- Women are most likely to be killed when attempting to leave the abuser. In fact, they're at a 75% higher risk than those who stay.

These statistics alone yell out that we need to provide safe and secure shelters for women and children fighting to leave an abusive home. Unlike many of us who run to our family and friends when in need, these women and children can't go to anyone they know for fear that their batterer will come find them. Leaving a spouse can be hard on the mother and children, but leaving a battering spouse is a million times worse because they fear for their lives!

I want to make everyone aware of these Women's shelters and educate them on how easy it can be to help. These shelters provide so much, but all we need to do to help is simply collect and donate necessity things so they can provide a new start for very brave women and chidren. I want everyone to think about the things they take for granted, and make an effort to donate something at least once a month.
