Six-year-old Heroes continues to gain momentum with every passing year. In 2006, we helped some 25,000 area children fill their idle time with activities that help build character and self-confidence. We currently have over 1,000 kids who are participating full-time in either our Elite basketball/baseball programs or Heroes-sponsored leagues.Through existing and newly created partnerships with Whataburger, the City of Dallas, the Dallas Park & Recreation Department, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Independent School District and several prominent area businessmen and women, we hope to almost triple this number for 2007.
The mission of all Heroes programs is to reach as many at-risk inner city kids as possible with as many constructive opportunities as possible -- opportunities to participate in and learn the finer points of team sports, and to participate in educational and cultural curriculums that give them hope for a much brighter future.
