 What We're Looking For

They say you're only as strong as your weakest link (sorry for starting off with an overused cliché). Well, we're only as good as our weakest employee, which is why we do everything we can to hire great people. Not only are we looking for people who are smart, motivated, energetic, optimistic, reliable, attentive, detail oriented, fast, flexible, and quick thinking - but we hire those who have a keen interest in having some fun while doing some good. We look for people who can have a direct and immediate impact and can contribute from day one. If you are looking to "learn on the job" this place probably isn't for you. Sorry - that's what interns are for. It doesn't really matter what we do or how we do it, as the people we're looking to add to our team will be good at anything handed their way.

 Director / Manager of Sales

We are currently looking for an energetic, motivated, creative and passionate individual to come and not only run our sales organization, but to develop a plan for ongoing growth and sustainability in the coming years. Fortunately, we have pre-populated the sales process. So, you would get onboard with some pretty amazing clients like Dell, AT&T, AMD, ACS/Xerox and more, making the sales process just a tad bit easier than a traditional start up. We are looking to add the right person to our team to carry our momentum into 2011 and truly drive growth - meaningful growth.

At YourCause, you wouldn't be selling a widget or a software. For the most part, you wouldn't even be selling anything earth shattering, intellectually stunning, or worthy of mention in the next Popular Science magazine. In our experience, we have found that it all boils down to selling a partnership between our team and our prospective clients. Actually, we don't even think of it as selling, but rather partnering. We are creating ongoing relationships that opens doors to new concepts, ideas and, together with each of our clients, changes the world.

We're not 100% sure what the resume of the person we want looks like, but we're fairly confident that the right person for this job will demonstrate past success in whatever it is they have done, communicate with others in a way that impresses our team, possesses a level of humility and confidence that aptly balances itself, and carries a drive to impact our company while achieving well thought out targets, milestones, and goals.

If you think this short descriptions maps well to your career interest, don't hesitate to contact us. The worst that can happen is that you learn more about what we really do at YourCause. The best... well, you become a part of our growing team.

 Front End Developer

We have an open position for a key component - a super talented front-end developer that can perfectly complement the rest of the team and their respective proficiencies.

We need an expert; a ninja (in the parlance of our times) in HTML (all forms), CSS, CSS3 and latest trends. We need more than just a "yeah, I've used it before." We need a master of AJAX with the knowledge of how to best use it on today's internet and a genius at Javascript with in-depth experience through a relevant framework (prototype, jquery, etc.). We need an individual who codes with today's web standards in mind while handling browser compatibility issues with ease; a design and detail-oriented person who eases from concept to code quickly.

We're looking for someone who worked with the .Net framework in the past. We seek a person who can start making an impact on our front-end experience right away by quickly sizing up the capabilities of our platform while suggesting and implementing changes. This individual should have a keen eye for both the visual appeal and user experience, but also focuses on the performance and interaction between the database and other utility servers.

We want a smart and motivated person whose priorities fall in line with ours at YourCause. Good communication skills are essential. Someone who communicates extraordinarily well, who can actually list their ability to communicate as a bullet item on their resume, will be an asset. Meaning - your ability to communicate is a definitive and measurable asset of yours. Education typically is an indicator of intelligence and training, though not always a precise assessment. Since we are so young, we are NOT in a position to hire super experienced resources. In fact, we value proficiency over experience.

Here's what we're NOT looking for. This is our "Need Not Apply Portion:" We're not looking for a 'designer' or a 'graphic artist.' We aren't looking for someone who just started picking up the programming side of development to compliment their design capabilities and now wants to expand their knowledge. We're not looking for someone who is trying to make the conversion from PHP to .Net - or Java to .Net. We simply aren't big enough to carry 'training programs' for new hires. Rather, we need individuals who can begin produce with us from day one.

If you read this far (and most of this rang true) then we strongly encourage you to apply.

 Standout Generalist

We're looking for someone who can take any project thrown at them and run with it. Let's clarify what we mean.

At YourCause, we continue to expand into new business areas - acting upon the needs and request of our clients. Although all of these areas have a technology and web component to them, we currently need to find individuals who can help operate the business, operations, and everything else that goes into getting a product from concept to reality. Of course, all positions at YourCause require some degree of knowledge of technology, but a primary focus on marketing, business, legal, and/or finance could suit you very well.

Right now, we're aggressively expanding into an area that has a definitive need for financial and/or accounting skills. It would seem ideal for someone who found themselves after college saying "I don't want to spend all my time doing accounting." Sound familiar?

The keys to these positions are simple:

1) You must be smart. Not just book smart but also smart on your feet. Can you think many steps ahead, all the time, and quickly size up what must be done in order to provide a product that is above and beyond all else in the market?

2) You must be thorough. We're looking for someone who actually prides themselves in thinking of every angle when coming up with a solution to every problem (but doesn't take an eternity to do so). Being detail-oriented is a total plus, but can easily become a detriment if you tend to get bogged down in your own analysis.

3) Confidence in your work and decisions. We are going to look to you to make decisions from day one that will have an immediate impact on our business. If you're not confident in your own decisions, then how can we be confident in you? If you are smart about making thorough decisions, then there should be no reason NOT to be confident about what you're doing. Did you follow that double negative?

4) Eager, energetic and fun. We're seeking someone who is eager to succeed, energetic about doing some good and will have fun while doing their job better than anybody else could. If you don't find "working hard" fun, then save your time and don't apply.

If you think this might be a good fit for you, then tell us why.

 Internships

We continue to have a number of projects aptly suited for an Intern. This means we have more to do than people to get it done (a good problem). Moreover, we truly view internships as a prelude to full employment and evaluate the time you spend with us as such. If you're looking for some great resume padding - then this won't be a good place for you. But if you think that getting a taste of what a start-up is like (prior to graduating) and are excited about YourCause, then maybe we have something for you.
